It turns out that not all burgers are created equal — not even if they are from the same brand.

Shake Shack opened its ninth outlet at Junction 8 in Bishan on Thursday (Oct 14), but a fan of the burger chain was left underwhelmed.

Stomper C said she visited the store at around 4.30pm and was surprised that there was no queue.

C had previously shared photos of long lines at Don Don Donki's newly-opened Northpoint City outlet and for Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tarts at Causeway Point.

She told Stomp: "I like looking at queues, taking pictures of queues and sometimes joining queues, so I decided to check out the buzz at Shake Shack's latest outlet.

"To my surprise, there was no queue. Well, good for me.

"The first floor was fully seated, while the second storey was quite empty. In between is a tedious flight of stairs to help you burn calories, haha."

The Stomper said: "I ordered my usual favourite of a ShackBurger for $9.70. The burger was not bad but nothing to shout about. It was also on the drier side and not juicy or as good as I remember it to be."

C, who has visited Shake Shack's flagship store at Jewel Changi Airport multiple times, finds that the quality and taste of food there is still the best.

She added: "I went to the Orchard Road outlet once and never went back again. Similarly, the Bishan outlet is also disappointing compared to Jewel's. There's so much difference.

"Just zoom in on the beef patties in my photos. You can see that the burgers at the Jewel outlet look so much juicier and have more sauce (even on the bottom bun)."

Stomper C's ShackBurger at Jewel Changi Airport: "Delicious and kept me coming back for more."

Stomper C's ShackBurger at Junction 8: "Dry and disappointing."

C said: "$9.70 for a single burger is expensive, and not worth it for this quality. I am not complaining about the price tag, but the quality has to justify it.

"I will probably only patronise Shake Shack at Jewel even though all the other outlets are nearer to me.

"It's definitely not a fluke or about cutting costs as I have been to the Jewel outlet many times since it first opened and the disparity is obvious.

"I wonder why the inconsistency?"
