Woman offers 'free' sports apparels on Telegram group, goes MIA after receiving postage fees

A 22-year-old woman who allegedly duped victims into paying postage fees for sports apparels that she claimed to be giving away has been arrested.

The police said that they received several reports in November 2019, from victims who had been purportedly cheated by the woman.

The woman had posted in a Telegram group, offering unwanted sports apparels to be given away with postage fees between $2 and $15.

"After receiving the payment, the woman would allegedly fail to deliver the goods," said the police in a statement on Monday (Dec 30).

Through follow-up investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division arrested the woman on Dec 26.

Police investigations are ongoing

Anyone convicted of cheating shall be punished with a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine.
