A sizeable portion, measuring 30m by 50m, of an open field in Tampines caught fire on Thursday afternoon (Oct 5).

Stomper Roger alerted Stomp to the fire and shared photos and a video of Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) firefighters at the scene.

Thick plumes of smoke are seen rising into the air.

In response to a Stomp query, the SCDF said they were alerted to a fire near the junction of Tampines Avenue 9 and Tampines Avenue 10 at about 3.10pm.

"The fire involved vegetation measuring approximately 30 meters by 50 meters," an SCDF spokesperson said.

"SCDF extinguished the fire using a water jet."

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
