A fire broke out at Block 337D Tai Ching Road on Friday morning (Sept 29).

Stomper MEK, who is a resident at the block, alerted Stomp to the incident.

"I heard a loud explosion and came out to see black smoke and fire," he said.

"I immediately banged (on the doors) of all the opposite flats then I locked my door and ran down.

"The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was activated and about eight trucks came."

In response to a Stomp query, SCDF said they were alerted to the fire at 10.05am.

"The fire involved items along the 4th-floor common corridor," an SCDF spokesperson said.

"SCDF extinguished the fire using a Compressed Air Foam trolley.

"Five persons were assessed by SCDF for minor injuries and the persons declined to be sent to the hospital."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
