Car catches fire near Yishun HDB block, SCDF investigating cause

A car caught fire near Block 455 Yishun Street 41 on Monday evening (Oct 2).
Stompers Eric and Jerry alerted Stomp to videos circulating online of Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers arriving at the scene to extinguish the fire.
The car is a white Mazda Biante and one of its doors was left open.
In response to a Stomp query, the SCDF said it was alerted to the fire at 6.45pm.
"The fire involved the engine compartment of a car," an SCDF spokesperson said.
SCDF extinguished the fire using a fire blanket and water jet.
There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
