A Tampines resident was concerned to see a drone flying around his block on Dec 1.

A Stomper, who lives at Tampines Street 45, shared a video of a drone hovering around the seventh and eighth floor of his block.

"Is this an intrusion of privacy?" he asked.

"Nothing against drone flying but I feel it's a bit inappropriate to be flying drones in residential areas due to privacy concerns."

The Stomper added that he did not make a police report as he could not ascertain who was manning the device and where they were doing it from.

According to OneMap, Tampines Street 45 lies within a no-fly zone as it is within 5km of aerodromes.

This is not the first time drones have been spotted in the heartlands.

In 2020, one was spotted flying up and down next to a Clementi HDB block.

In 2010, police were alerted to an incident in which a drone was seen flying past a Pasir Ris resident's toilet window while she was showering.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), pilots should not fly their unmanned aircraft (UA) over restricted, prohibited or dangerous areas, including security-sensitive locations.
