Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his wife Madam Ho Ching were at the Chingay Parade 2023 on Feb 24 at the F1 Pit Building.

Stomper Steven was one of about 33,000 people who turned up to be dazzled by the stunning street parade.

Chingay began in 1973 as a street parade to hype up the Chinese New Year festivities after firecrackers were banned. It has since evolved into Singapore’s biggest multicultural celebration.

Steven shared with Stomp photos of PM Lee and Madam Ho waving to the crowd and later, enjoying the performances with two toddlers sitting on their laps.

The Stomper said it was a 'spectacular event'.

This year, The parade's theme was Blossom, and floral elements were featured as the main motif for the six acts showcasing Singapore's culture and traditions.

About 3,500 local and international performers took part and the attractions included 17 community-made floats, and five Chingay large floats. A 230m interactive floor projection debuted for the first time and is the longest for a street parade in Singapore.

If you missed the parade, you can look forward to Chingay@Heartland celebrations which will bring the Chingay floats and performances to five heartland estates over several weekends from Feb 25.
