A 49-year-old man sustained head injuries after falling from his flat on the fifth floor of Block 299B Tampines Street 22 on Monday (July 23).
In response to a Stomp query, the police said that they were alerted to a case of fall from height at 5.22pm.
The man was conscious when taken to Changi General Hospital.
It is unclear how the man fell from his two-room flat.
According to Lianhe Wanbao, the victim survived thanks to a tree that broke his fall.
His next door neighbour, a 62-year-old retiree, said that the man worked as a cleaner and had been living there for around two years.
He described the man to be a kind and generous person who would not only bring him food, but had also graciously loaned a bicycle to him.
"[The victim] told me a few months ago that he had purchased a new house in Sengkang. I even saw him buying a small electric fan home last night," added the neighbour.
"He looked normal. I believe he might have accidentally fallen from his flat."
Another resident, a 65-year-old housewife known as Siti, said she had heard a noise.
Upon rushing to the window, she saw that a small tree had snapped and noticed a man lying motionless on the grass patch.
Frightened, she got her son to call the police.
Police investigations are ongoing.
