Elderly man trapped for an hour after falling into canal at Loyang Way

A man fell into a canal along Loyang Way on Saturday evening (July 21) and was stranded there for around an hour before being rescued.

Due to leg injuries, the man could not climb up the canal, which was about two metres deep.

In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the rescue incident at about 6pm.

An ambulance and a fire engine were dispatched to the scene.

"A man in his 60s was rescued out of the canal using a ladder and conveyed to Changi General Hospital," added the SCDF.
