A man was confronted for fishing at Geylang River on Apr 14, despite 'no fishing' signs in the vicinity.

Stomper CP told Stomp that he spotted the man fishing near Lorong 40 Geylang at about 2.30pm. He was wearing sunglasses and half of his face was covered with a neck gaiter.

"There are cameras all around the area but the man was not deterred," said the Stomper.

"When asked to read the sign and to stop fishing there, he ignored us and then tried to take my photo instead."

In photos shared by the Stomper, a 'no fishing' sign put up by PUB, the national water agency states that those who fish there can be fined up to $3,000.

Fishing is permitted at selected reservoirs and waterways in Singapore. The public may also fish in the sea and at some waterfront parks.
