Lorry driver and passengers allegedly flee after hitting taxi at Serangoon Road junction, 3 hurt

A lorry driver and two passengers allegedly fled after they got into an accident with a taxi at the junction of Serangoon Road and Lavender Street on early Sunday morning (Apr 2).

Facebook page SG Road Vigilante posted a video of the collision that occurred at around 1.07am. The lorry appears to continue moving off after the crash.

According to the video caption, a passing ambulance went to assist the taxi driver after the accident.

The motorist who captured the video alleged that the lorry driver and two passengers 'jumped off from the lorry and ran away'. The motorist also said that he and another car driver chased after the lorry driver till Kallang Community Club.

In response to media queries, the police confirmed that they were alerted to a hit-and-run accident.

The 53-year-old taxi driver suffered minor injuries but refused conveyance to hospital, while a 27-year-old male passenger and a 26-year-old female passenger were conscious when taken to hospital.

A Shin Min Daily News reporter who visited the accident site saw debris left behind and noted that the area gets high traffic.

Police investigations are ongoing.
