Local company gives away 30,000 masks and 300l of hand santiser at Waterloo Street

A local company giving away free face masks and hand sanitiser attracted a huge gathering of people at Waterloo Street on Saturday (Feb 22).

Stomper Daphne alerted Stomp to the generous initiative by Bellus Group and shared photos she took in front of Kwan Inn Temple.

The company, which describes itself as a surface specialist on its Facebook page, posted on Feb 20 that it would be giving away 30,000 surgical masks and a total of 300l of hand santiser from 11am on Saturday.

Each person was entitled to 50ml of alcohol-based sanitiser and a pack containing two face masks.

Bellus Group encouraged people to bring their own containers for the sanitiser to be dispensed into.

It added that it would give priority to the elderly.

The giveaway is yet another generous initiative amidst the spread of the coronavirus from Wuhan, or Covid-19.
