FairPrice has responded to feedback from a customer who found mould on frozen prata he had bought from the supermarket chain's outlet at Tampines Mall.

Stomper Mingxiang told Stomp he had bought three packets of frozen prata in March. However, only one of the packets was affected.

In a photo he shared, the expiry date stated on the packaging is Aug 12, 2021.

In response to a Stomp query, a FairPrice spokesman said that the supermarket chain has launched a full investigation into the matter and has since been in contact with the customer to resolve it.

"FairPrice takes food quality and safety issues very seriously, and is committed to uphold a high level of food safety standards," the spokesman said.

"This appears to be an isolated incident as checks on existing batches did not reveal any abnormalities and we have not received similar customer feedback recently concerning the product in question.

"Beyond this, an inspection of the cold chain management system in place for this product at the store in question does not reveal any irregularities and is in compliance with stringent food safety standards.

"We take this opportunity to advise our customers to keep frozen food items in an insulated bag or container for transport home, and promptly store them in the freezer.

"Frozen food that has thawed should not be frozen again to avoid compromising the safety and quality of the product.

"Customers can return or exchange products that are of an unsatisfactory quality at the same store of purchase, with receipt.

"We request that customers contact us directly so that we can look into their concerns expeditiously.

"We can be reached at our Customer Relations Hotline at 6552 2722 or at general.feedback@fairprice.com.sg.

"Thank you."
