Explosions were heard when a car caught fire at a multi-storey carpark at Geylang Serai market on Saturday afternoon (Mar 6).

Two Stompers alerted Stomp to the incident and shared videos taken at the scene.

In one of the videos, smoke can be seen rising above the market.

Another clip shows Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) firefighters arriving to extinguish the fire.

In response to a Stomp query, the SCDF said they were alerted to the fire at 2A Geylang Serai at 5.15pm.

"The fire involved a car," a spokesman said.

"SCDF extinguished the fire using one hosereel."

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
