A 26-year-old cook used a mini camera to record five videos of his 30-year-old sister-in-law showering in her rental flat, then kept two or three clear ones in his handphone.
The camera -- which was about the size of a 10-cent coin after having its external casing removed -- had been placed on top of the water heater in the kitchen toilet.
On March 13 this year, the man -- a Malaysian who is married to the victim's younger sister, entered the victim's room and showed her a video of her in the shower.
Shocked, she told him to get out.
However, he ignored her and walked closer to her, forcing her to retreat and block him with her hands until she was backed up against her bedroom wall, reported The Straits Times.
When she tried to flee, he pushed her down onto the bed and molested her. He also slapped her and restrained her from struggling.
The victim found her chance to escape when he got up to turn on the air-conditioning. She locked herself in the kitchen toilet and contacted her brother, who called the police.
On Wednesday (Dec 6), the perpetrator was sentenced to 30 months' jail and three strokes of the cane after he admitted to aggravated molestation, slapping the victim twice and insulting her modesty.
