Car bursts into flames at NTFGH carpark, fire extinguished by sprinkler system

A car burst into flames at a carpark located in Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) on Thursday afternoon (Oct 12).

Stomper Christy alerted Stomp to the incident and shared a video her sister had sent to her.

"I was with my brother at NTFGH's carpark and was first to witness this fire," Christy's sister said.

"It was quite scary as no one was around."

In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to a fire at 1 Jurong East Street 1 at about 12.15pm.

"The fire involved the engine compartment of a car," an SCDF spokesperson said.

"The fire was extinguished by the sprinkler system prior to SCDF's arrival."

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
