30-year-old cyclist taken to hospital after accident with bus in Sembawang

A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital after an accident involving his bicycle and an SMRT bus in Sembawang on Monday (Oct 7).

The police said they were alerted to the accident, which occurred at the junction of Sembawang Way and Sembawang Drive, at 4.33pm.

The cyclist was conscious when taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.

A video posted on Facebook shows a man lying by the roadside and surrounded by passers-by.

A man in an SMRT vest can also be seen making a phone call near the man.

According to Lianhe Zaobao, transport operator SMRT confirmed that one of its buses was involved in the accident.

A spokesman said SMRT has reached out to the cyclist at the hospital to provide support and assistance, and is currently helping police with investigations.
