A second burning car on a Singapore expressway was caught on video in less than 24 hours on Friday morning (Sept 15).

Stomper Ismail shared a video of the vehicle engulfed in flames on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) at 6.10am.

"From a distance, I saw the car suddenly caught fire on the BKE after Woodlands Checkpoint," said the Stomper.

"The driver managed to escape and was attended to by police officers."

The video shows firefighters from the fire engine approaching the burning vehicle in the emergency lane of the expressway.

In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted at about 6am to the fire along BKE towards Pan-Island Expressway after the Woodlands Centre Road exit.

SCDF extinguished the fire using two water jets.

A person was assessed for minor injuries but declined to be sent to the hospital, said SCDF.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A day earlier, a car caught fire on the PIE in the afternoon. No injuries were reported.
