1 person taken to hospital after fire breaks out in kitchen of Sengkang HDB flat

One person was taken to hospital after a fire broke out in the kitchen of a HDB flat at Block 185D Rivervale Crescent on Friday evening (Mar 25).

A Stomper alerted Stomp to the incident and shared footage of flames and smoke coming from the unit.

In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the fire at 7.40pm.

"The fire involved a cabinet in the kitchen of a unit on the 13th floor," an SCDF spokesman said.

"SCDF extinguished the fire using a water jet."

About 15 people from the affected block were evacuated by the police and one person was taken to Singapore General Hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
