A 33-year-old driver was taken to hospital after a two-car accident along the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) on Sunday morning (Mar 20).

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the accident involving two cars along PIE towards Tuas, near Jalan Eunos exit, at 10.43am.

The male driver was conscious when conveyed to Changi General Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.

The accident also resulted in one of the cars catching fire, videos of which Stompers Sharon and Dean shared.

In one video, a passing driver is heard commenting about how the heat from the blaze can be felt.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it extinguished the fire using a water jet and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
