Van catches fire while attached to tow truck along Jalan Eunos

A van caught fire at the junction of Jalan Eunos and the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) on Thursday afternoon (July 22).

A Stomper alerted Stomp to the incident and shared videos of smoke coming from the van while it was attached to a tow truck.

The tow truck driver is seen quickly detaching the van from the truck before fire engines arrive at the scene.

"It was quite hectic and the traffic was bad because the vehicles were blocking the road," said the Stomper.

In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) sasid it was alerted to the fire at 12.30pm.

"The fire involved the engine compartment of a van," an SCDF spokesman said.

"SCDF extinguished the fire using a compressed air foam (CAF) backpack and two hose reels."

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
