Members of the public worked together to extinguish a vehicle fire on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) in the early hours of Saturday morning (May 15).

Stomper Don alerted Stomp to the incident and shared a video he took of a man wearing a motorcycle helmet rushing towards the burning vehicle holding a fire extinguisher.

"Luckily we managed to get fire extinguishers from a nearby roadworks and put out the fire before the Singapore Civil Defence Force's (SCDF) arrival.

"The driver was not injured."

In response to a Stomp query, the SCDF said it was alerted to the fire along BKE towards the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) before the Kranji Expressway (KJE) exit at about 12.20am.

"The fire involved the engine compartment of a car," an SCDF spokesman said.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
