Great World is investigating an incident where a temporary hoarding for a retail store in the shopping mall detached and collapsed on Sunday afternoon (Sept 24).

A Stomper alerted Stomp to the incident and said she was covered in dust after the hoarding fell.

"I was standing outside Watsons because there were so many people passing by," she said.

"Then, I moved back and stood a bit inside the store.

"When the wall collapsed, there was no way behind me due to the shelves and the steel almost hit my head.

"Fortunately, the crowd of people who were there earlier were gone.

"When the wall fell, there was only me alone.

"I didn't get injured, only my body was covered in dust.

"The Watsons management also promptly asked me about my condition."

In response to a Stomp query, a Great World spokesperson said: "On Sept 24, Sunday at 4.45pm, the temporary hoarding for a retail store, Tori Sanwa, at Basement 1 Great World, became detached.

"We immediately secured the area as our priority is to ensure the safety of all shoppers.

"There had been no reported injuries.

"The hoarding has been replaced as of Sept 25.

"An investigation into the incident is currently underway, and we are working closely with Tori Sanwa and their contractor to ascertain the root cause of the hoarding panel detachment.

"Our commitment to the safety and well-being of our shoppers remains as our utmost priority."
