A woman was horrified to find insects in the beef stew she cooked using chilli power she bought from a FairPrice supermarket.

Stomper Celine shared a video of an insect crawling inside a container of Morrisons mild chilli powder she paid $1.55 for at FairPrice Raffles Holland V Mall on Nov 6.

She recounted: "I went to FairPrice to shop for ingredients for my beef stew and chilli powder was one of them.

"To my horror, while I was eating my beef stew, I realised there were bugs in my soup. That was when I realised the bugs came from the chilli powder!"

She said she threw the whole pot of beef stew away and returned the chilli power to the supermarket.

In response to a Stomp query, a FairPrice Group spokesperson said it is aware of this issue and is investigating the matter.

"We take food quality issues very seriously, and are dedicated to upholding high standards of food safety," said the spokesperson.

"We are in contact with the customer and are committed to working closely with our supplier to identify the root cause of the incident and resolve the issue."

Earlier this year in February, FairPrice removed Morrisons chilli flakes from its shelves as a precautionary measure after a Stomper found "worms" in the product.
