A water pipe burst at Block 674 Hougang Avenue 8 in the early hours of Friday (Aug 14).

Stompers Jia Chen, Yap and Anonymous alerted Stomp to the incident and shared photos and videos of what happened.

In the videos, water can be seen rising to about four storeys high.

The water then rose to six storeys high.

Stomper Yap shared: "When the water started to leak at about 12.40am, we called and informed the Public Utilities Board (PUB).

PUB arrived at about 1.10am and started investigating."

Jia Chen also shared her Facebook post with Stomp, which included videos of the water rising "six storeys high".

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesman for national water agency PUB said they received the report of the pipe burst at 12.47am.

"Water was observed shooting out of the ruptured pipe because water pipes are highly pressurised," said PUB.

"PUB deployed our service crew to the site immediately and brought the leak under control to conduct repair works.

"Water supply to residents was not affected as PUB installed temporary connections to by-pass the leak spot.

"The repair works were completed on Friday morning (Aug 14).

"Members of the public can call PUB’s 24-hour call centre at 1800-CALL-PUB (1800-2255-782) to report any pipe leaks"
