Tanjong Pagar Town Council has cleaned up a common rubbish chute at Block 6 Kim Tian Road after a resident complained about the persistent accumulation of litter.

This follows feedback from Stomper Georgina, who shared photos of bulky items such as cardboard boxes discarded around the 10th-floor rubbish chute.

She told Stomp on Nov 12: "Residents has been dumpling their rubbish at the chute on the 10th floor when the rubbish centre is right below on the ground level.

"Even though there is a sticker on the wall stating, 'Do not leave garbage here', they simply ignore it and are too lazy to go downstairs.

"It has been more than one to two weeks and every day the rubbish is piling up. There is even a pizza box, cockroaches, lizards and other insects, which will cause hygiene problems."

In response to a Stomp query, Tanjong Pagar Town Council thanked the Stomper for her feedback and said it has spruced up the common area.

The town council added: "We have also informed our conservancy contractors to step up on the cleaning regime at the precinct and we will be putting up more prominent notices at the bin chute and lift lobby areas to remind residents not to throw their rubbish indiscriminately.

"We also seek the kind assistance of all our residents to be more considerate towards their neighbours."
