Taiwanese millionaire gets transplanted with 30cm penis from South African donor? It's fake news

The latest fake news making its rounds online is of a Taiwanese millionaire achieving his "lifelong dream" after going through a successful penis transplant from a South African organ donor.

The news was originally published by World News Daily Report, a satire website which carries the following disclaimer on their page:

"World News Daily Report assumes however all responsibility for the satirical nature of its articles and for the fictional nature of their content. All characters appearing in the articles in this website – even those based on real people – are entirely fictional and any resemblance between them and any persons, living, dead, or undead is purely a miracle."

Another indicator that this is a hoax? The image that accompanied the story is of Peter Lai, a UK software engineer who died aged 60 because of a lack of resources in the National Health Service.

According to Hoax Alert, there is also no public record of the alleged patient named "Huy Xen Phang".

The only part of the story that is true is that the doctor and hospital mentioned, André van der Merwe from Tygerberg Hospital in South Africa, are real and that Dr van der Merwe has actually conducted a penis transplant.
