SMRT takes disciplinary action against bus captain who ran red light in Choa Chu Kang

Disciplinary action has been taken against a bus captain who was caught on camera running a red light, said transport operator SMRT.

The incident occurred along Choa Chu Kang Drive on November 7, at around 5.40pm.

Stomper Lau Lau alerted Stomp to a video of the incident posted by Facebook page SG Road Vigilante - SGRV.

The Facebook post said: "Bus stopped, predicted green light wrongly and decided to just beat red light. Dangerous bus driver."

In response to the video, one netizen commented that he has lodged a police report.

Mr Vincent Gay, deputy managing director of SMRT Buses, told Stomp in response to queries: "We do not condone unsafe driving behaviour. The safety of our commuters and other road users is our top priority.

"We investigated the incident and have taken disciplinary action against the bus captain.

"We regularly train, and constantly remind, our bus captains to strictly observe all safety and road regulations."
