Despite repeated warnings, he continued to struggle and refused to comply with officers' instructions after being detained.

The man, who was found with controlled drugs and drug paraphernalia in his possession, was subsequently arrested.

In a Facebook post on Friday (Oct 19), Mr Shanmugam said he met Staff Sergeant Regina Ng, one of the officers in the video, during a visit to Clementi Police Division.

Sharing a link to Stomp's report about the incident, Mr Shanmugam wrote: "Regina and fellow officers were professional throughout the incident, kept their cool. They did well."
