Sharing a video of the accident's aftermath, Stomper Eugene said: "We drove past right after they put out the fire and saw some school boys by the pavement.

"Some of them were crying, but they didn't seem hurt. It must be really traumatic for them."

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the accident at 6am.

The car caught fire upon the crash. Police officers pulled two car passengers from within the car to safety.

The 32-year-old woman and 27-year-old man were subsequently arrested along with a third passenger – a 22-year-old man – for traffic-related offences.

The 26-year-old male car driver was arrested for failing to provide breath specimen.

All four were conscious when taken to the hospital.

When contacted by Stomp, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the car fire near the junction of Bukit Timah Road and Maple Avenue at about 6.20am.

SCDF extinguished the fire using a water jet.

The six people were taken to National University Hospital. Another person was assessed for minor injuries but declined to be sent to the hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
