SCDF forcibly enters soya bean stall in Geylang hawker centre to fight fire, 2 people taken to hospital

Two people were taken to the hospital after a food stall at Geylang Bahru Market and Food Centre caught fire on Dec 6 evening.

Stompers Ms Oz and Marco shared a video of Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel outside the hawker centre.

Ms Oz shared a photo of the soya bean stall after the fire as well.

Other videos of the fire were also posted online.

In one of the videos, members of the public can be seen attempting to put out the fire with a water hose.

In response to a Stomp query, 4, SCDF said it was alerted at about 7.25pm to the fire at Block 69 Geylang Bahru.

"Upon arrival, SCDF conducted forcible entry into the stall and extinguished the fire with a water jet," said SCDF.

Two people were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital while another person was assessed for minor injuries but declined to be taken to the hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
