A fire broke out in a centralised rubbish chute at International Plaza on Thursday evening (Aug 17).

The Singapore Civl Defence Force (SCDF) told Stomp that it was alerted to the incident at 10 Anson Road at around 7.15pm.

The fire, which involved "discarded items in the centralised rubbish chute on the first floor" of the building, was extiguished by members of the public using two fire extinguishers and a hose reel prior to SCDF's arrival.

Stomper Mike shared photos of the scene and said people evacuated the building after the fire alarm went off.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
