The fire was raging when firefighters from Clementi Fire Station and Alexandra Fire Station arrived at Block 28 Ghim Moh Link on Wednesday morning (Aug 16).

Stompers Anonymous, Leong and Khew shared videos of thick black smoke coming out from the windows of the 36th-storey flat.

One video shows the blackened facade of the block above the unit after the fire.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the fire at about 7:35am, said the life-saving force on Facebook.

The entire unit was engulfed by the blaze, which was put out by two water jets.

An occupant had evacuated from the flat before SCDF’s arrival. About 60 people from the block were evacuated by the police as a precautionary measure.

Two people were taken to the National University Hospital, one for smoke inhalation and the other for minor cuts.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Other videos of the fire were also posted online.
