The police are investigating those who discharged fireworks at Jalan Rajah and Jurong West on Sunday night (Oct 27) and the early hours of Monday morning (Oct 28).

Stomper Wei Sien alerted Stomp to fireworks that were set off at Jalan Rajah on Monday.

He shared with Stomp a video he took at about 1.30am.

In the video, fireworks are seen lighting up the sky overhead and people can be heard cheering.

"I saw a group of people illegally discharging fireworks near Block 102 Jalan Rajah," the Stomper said.

"I reported the incident to the police."

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the fireworks at about 1.20am.

No injuries were reported and police investigations are ongoing.

A 23-second video of fireworks set off in Jurong West on Sunday night was posted on All Singapore Stuff's Facebook page.

The fireworks were launched between two HDB blocks as residents looked on from their common corridors.

They reach as high as a 12th storey flat and sparks are seen ricocheting off the walls of the block.

Another 15-second video shows fireworks launched from an open space in front of residential blocks. It is unclear if they are of the same incident.

No injuries were reported during this incident either.

The offence of discharge of dangerous fireworks under the Dangerous Fireworks Act carries a jail term of up to two years or a fine between $2,000 to $10,000, or both.

The police said in a statement to Stomp: "Members of the public are reminded that it is an offence to possess, sell, transport, send, deliver, distribute or import any dangerous fireworks.

"The police have zero tolerance against acts that endanger the lives or safety of others as well as cause undue alarm to the public, and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law."
