Pedestrian using phone taken to hospital after getting knocked down by van along Sophia Road

A 40-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital after he was knocked down by a van along Sophia Road towards Wilkie Road on Sep 11.

Stomper Edros alerted Stomp to the incident and shared a video that has been circulating online.

In the video, the pedestrian is seen walking along the road while apparently using his phone.

A van approaches him from behind and knocks him down to the ground, sending his phone flying.

The man is seen clutching his head before the video ends.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the accident 

"The 40-year-old male pedestrian was conscious when conveyed to Raffles Hospital," a police spokesman said.

Police investigations are ongoing.
