A woman ordered a bed from Nova Furnishing and was dismayed to find insects and mould in the furniture.

The company told Stomp that it has since reached an "amicable settlement" with the Stomper.

The Stomper had just moved into her new home when she made an unpleasant discovery.

"We found that the bed we bought from Nova Furnishing, delivered on 29 Jan, was severely infested with many tiny bugs and had mould," recounted the Stomper, who shared photos and videos of the insects and white specks on the furniture.

She said she tried calling the company to no avail.

"The worst part about this is their utter lack of responsibility. We have been waiting for a call from their management all day. Calls we made to HQ as well as the branch we bought our infested bed from were ignored," said the customer, who then reached out to Stomp.

Nova Furnishing has showrooms in Boon Lay, Ang Mo Kio, Sims Drive, Sungei Kadut and Changi South Lane.

The Stomper added: "I found their attitude shocking because I would assume a bug infestation like this would be very frightening to a furniture company. But their lack of attention to the problem and nonchalant attitude made me very concerned."

Stomp contacted the company on Feb 7.

In response to a Stomp query, Nova Furnishing executive director and general manager Joseph Goy said on Feb 13: "We have engaged the customer and are pleased to share the parties have reached an amicable settlement.

"As the terms of Nova's settlement are private and confidential, Nova is unable to provide further comment on this matter."

The customer told Stomp: "Thank you for your assistance in investigating this matter together with us. We have gotten a settlement agreement from Nova, and are happy to end this amicably before Chinese New Year."
