A Mercedes-Benz driver allegedly failed to obey a stop sign and hit a food delivery rider in Tiong Bahru on Feb 4 at midnight.

Stomper Peter, the e-bike rider, said he was on his way to collect a delivery at Oriental Chinese Restaurant, which opens from 11am to 6am in Chinatown.

He told Stomp: "Traffic was clear and I was going straight on Tiong Bahru Road."

The car came from Boon Tiong Road and was turning into Tiong Bahru Road when it hit the e-biker.

"The driver was supposed to stop at the stop line and check before turning left," said the Stomper.

"I was flung off my PAB (power-assisted bicycle). The driver stopped his vehicle and came to me, saying sorry that he didn't notice me on the PAB."

The Stomper said he messaged the platform dispatcher about the accident and the driver called for an ambulance.

"I was hospitalised from Feb 4 to 6 and was given 24 days of hospitalisation leave in total."

He had injuries on his left knee and both his arms and hands, and said he now walks with a limp.

The Stomper added that he is claiming third-party insurance from the driver.

In response to a Stomp query, police confirmed that a report was made and investigations are ongoing.
