A fire broke out at Bendemeer Market and Food Centre on Saturday afternoon (Feb 16) and was put out by members of the public.

The fire involved the contents of a stall.

Stomper Gary alerted stomp to the incident and shared videos he had received from a friend of the fire.

In the videos, flames could be seen coming out on top of one of the stalls at the food centre.

In response to a Stomp media query, a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesman said they were alerted to the fire at about 3.30pm.

"The fire was extinguished by members of the public using a hose reel and fire extinguishers prior to SCDF's arrival," he said.

There were no reported injuries.
