About 90 people self-evacuated after a fire broke out at the carpark of the Bank of China Building in the Central Business District on Monday afternoon (Apr 12).

Stompers Adrian and Watson alerted Stomp to the incident and shared a video and photos showing police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) vehicles along Battery Road.

In response to a Stomp query, the SCDF said they were alerted to a fire at 6 Battery Road at 4.20pm.

"The fire involved construction materials at the basement carpark," an SCDF spokesman said.

"Members of the public extinguished the fire using a hosereel and two fire extinguishers.

"About 90 people self-evacuated prior to the arrival of SCDF."

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
