A man was shocked when he found a cockroach floating in his almost-finished drink.

Stomper Sein told Stomp that he had visited Hanis Cafe and Bakery at PLQ Mall on Apr 27 for lunch.

"I got a set meal including an iced lemon tea," he said.

"I almost finished it up when I noticed the small cockroach.

"When I informed the staff, they just threw the drink and got a new one just like nothing happened."

He subsequently reported the incident to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).

In response to a Stomp query, the SFA said it is investigating the matter.

An SFA spokesman said: "Food safety is a joint responsibility.

"While SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food establishments must play their part by adhering to the food safety requirements and ensure their premises is clean and well-maintained.

"Members of the public who come across any potentially errant food establishment should report to SFA via the online feedback form (www.sfa.gov.sg/feedback).

"SFA will not hesitate to take enforcement action if we have obtained sufficient evidence."
