Man, 38, arrested for allegedly setting off illegal fireworks in Jurong West

A 38-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in setting off fireworks at Jurong West Street 73 on Sunday night (Oct 27).

The police said in a statement that it received a report at about 8pm that fireworks had been discharged at the location. No injuries were reported.

Through follow-up investigations, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on Tuesday (Oct 29).

A 23-second video of the fireworks being set off in the area was posted on All Singapore Stuff's Facebook page.

The fireworks reached as high as the 12th storey and sparks were seen ricocheting off the walls of a block.

Another 15-second video showed fireworks being launched from an open space in front of residential blocks, although it is unclear if it is of the same incident shown in the other video.

Police investigations are ongoing.

If convicted, the man could be jailed for up to two years, fined between $2,000 and $10,000, or both.
