Customers of telecommunication company M1 experienced disruptions to their mobile data service at around 7am on Thursday (Sep 20).

A Stomper who alerted us to the incident via WhatsApp was affected by the incident.

"I am an M1 user and I can't surf the net about 7am after I've sent my kid to school," he said to Stomp in a phone interview.

"Luckily for me, the outage happened before I booked a Grab to send her.

"After I dropped her off, I tried using my phone to surf the net but realised that I had no data.

"I restarted my phone three times after checking my phone's settings.

"The data was on and it was not in flight mode.

"My wife who also uses M1 SMS-ed me to say that she can't surf the net using her mobile phone even after restarting her phone.

"That's when I knew that something was not right.

"I then found out about the disruption after I got home and read about what happened on my home computer."

M1 released a statement on Facebook at 7.18am to inform their customers that their engineers were working to rectify the issue.

Many M1 customers affected by the disruption voiced their frustrations on Facebook.

Some users also mentioned that the outage was affecting their work.

M1 said in an update at 8.19am that mobile services have been successfully restored.

Customers took to Facebook to express their relief.
