Garbage truck catches fire along Cantonment Road

A rubbish truck caught fire along Cantonment Road at around 10.25am today (Feb 6).

Several Stompers contributed photos and videos of the incident, which occurred near Police Cantonment Complex.

The truck is from Veolia Singapore, a company that specialises in waste collection.

Stomper Wilfred said: "A police patrol car and a fire truck were at the scene to divert traffic and battle the fire."

In response to queries by Stomp, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the incident at around 10.15am.

The fire was extinguished by SCDF using one water jet.

No injuries were reported.
