It was not supposed to be there.

A woman was eating a McDonald's double cheeseburger and was surprised to find a piece of paper in it.

Stomper Hannah had ordered a double cheeseburger upsized meal and other items from the McDonald's Woodgrove outlet in Woodlands using the Foodpanda app on Dec 2 at 5.46pm.

"The first bite I took, I realised there was a funky taste, but I continued eating," recounted the Stomper, who shared photos of the burger and the unexpected ingredient.

"On the third bite, I noticed I had bitten on something hard. I was hoping it wasn't uncooked meat, but it was a huge piece of paper instead!"

"The paper was inside the meat and I know this because I opened up the burger to put chilli and I didn't see any paper."

She said she discovered the paper only after she took a bite and chewed.

Hannah reported the incident to McDonald's, who replied: "We're sorry to hear about your experience. We'd like to assure you that we here at McDonald's uphold the highest standards of food safety and quality, and highly prioritise customer satisfaction, which is why we're concerned to hear about your experience."

The company also asked for more info so that it could look into it.

In response to a Stomp query, a McDonald’s spokesman said: “Food safety is our topmost priority. We have reached out directly to our customer and have resolved the matter.”
