One person was taken to the hospital after a fire broke out in a Jurong HDB flat during the wee hours of Feb 18.

Stompers Yati and Watson shared videos of the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) at the block where flames and smoke were coming from a flat window.

In a Facebook post on Feb 18 afternoon, SCDF said it was alerted to the fire at Block 287A Jurong East Street 21 at about 1.50am.

Two people self-evacuated from the burning flat before the arrival of SCDF.

The fire, which involved the living room, was extinguished with two water jets.

A neighbour was assessed for smoke inhalation and taken to Singapore General Hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

SCDF added that common causes of household fires include unattended cooking, fires caused by electrical origin, and lighted materials like candlelight and burning incense that are left unattended.
