A electric bicycle rider failed to stop for a red light in Bukit Batok and nearly collided with a group of pedestrians who were crossing the road.

A video of the e-biker's "unacceptable behaviour" was uploaded by Facebook page Beh Chia Lor - Singapore Road on July 4.

The video shows how the traffic light had turned in favour of the pedestrians, which included a toddler. They can be seen crossing the road when the e-biker rides past them.

Although no collision occurred, the toddler – who had been running – barely manages to stop in time.

The e-biker has drawn flak from netizens, who asked for enforcement action to be taken against him.

Some also urged adults to be more vigilant when crossing the road with children.

One user said: "Luckily the girl run fast if not accident will happened. Parents should hold their kids hand when they are crossing the road (sic)."

E-bikes are allowed on roads but must adhere to a speed limit of 25km/h.
