A man and a woman were caught on video taking an outdoor furniture set from outside a ground-floor HDB unit on Mar 17.

A Stomper shared footage of the couple walking away with the furniture which included two chairs and a table.

"My outdoor seating was stolen in broad daylight," said the Stomper.

"The couple who did so came to our estate to presumably check it out before the theft took place a short while later."

She added that the couple walked into their area and returned within minutes.

From the footage, she saw they had parked their vehicle at the carpark opposite her block.

"I can imagine that if this theft was conducted in this manner, this could happen to someone else as well.

She shared with Stomp that her husband had bought the set for a 'few hundred dollars' some time back.

They placed the furniture outside because their estate is like a 'kampung'.

"Our kids and the neighbouring kids play outside and our neighbours wait there for school buses, etc," she said.

"Everyone uses it and I'm happy with that.

"This isn't about the money, but it's daunting that people have the audacity to go around stealing things in broad daylight.

"My purpose is to create awareness that this is happening, defeating the level of safety and strict legislation our country upholds."

She also suspects the car has a foreign licence plate.

"If this vehicle is from you-know-where, then imagine they are going around happily stealing from others and bringing them back," she said.

"I am assuming to sell as this sort of furniture is expensive in their country, sorry for the assumption."

The Stomper said her husband has since lodged a police report.

"My neighbours and family told me the carpark gantry has cameras so if the police do dig into this small case, they can find out easily," she said.

The police confirmed with Stomp that a report was lodged and investigations are ongoing.
