All imported pigs in S'pore accounted for, AVA says in response to video of pig swimming near MPA-licenced pleasure craft

A video showing a pig swimming near a boat with a Singapore licence number created a buzz among netizens when it was posted on Facebook last month.

A Stomper alerted Stomp to the video uploaded by Facebook user Dean Gerous on July 19 and it has since garnered over 5,700 shares and more than 1,000 comments.

In the video, two men on a boat with licence number SZ14708D are seen trying to haul the pig in using a net as onlookers shout at them to get a rope.

The pig is seen struggling and then swimming away from the vessel.

Dean wrote in his post that the incident happened at Jurong, however, this cannot be verified.

In response to Stomp media queries, a Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) spokesman confirmed that SZ14708D is an MPA-licenced pleasure craft.

The Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) told Stomp that there are currently no pig farms in Singapore.

"All our imported pigs are accounted for," a spokesman said.
