Action has been taken against a cleaning contractor for wastage of water at a multi-storey carpark in Dover Crescent following feedback from a Stomper, said West Coast Town Council in response to queries.

Stomper Eric expressed concerns about water being wasted after noticing a hose that cleaners were using to wash the carpark at Block 28 Dover Crescent on Oct 26.

He said that the cleaners did not attach a proper hose to the tap they were using.

He sent Stomp pictures and a video of the water spraying out of the tap, instead of flowing through the hose.

According to him, this is not the first time this has happened.

He said: "I am concerned because if this were to keep happening, there would be a lot of water wasted. Singapore is also a city that is now promoting the conservation of water."

He also said that he had spoken to the cleaners about changing the hose they use, but there was no change that took place.

In response to a Stomp query, a West Coast Town Council spokesman said: "We would like to thank the Stomp reader for the feedback.

"We have taken actions against the cleaning contractor.

"We will monitor and take necessary actions to prevent wastage of water during the washing activities."
