82-year-old pedestrian dies, motorcyclist taken to hospital after accident in Toa Payoh

An 82-year-old pedestrian died after an accident with a motorcycle in Toa Payoh on Monday evening (Oct 2).

The police told Stomp that they were alerted to the accident along Lorong 1 Toa Payoh towards Lorong 6 Toa Payoh, before Toa Payoh West, at 7.20pm.

The elderly pedestrian was unconscious when taken to hospital, where he subsequently died.

A 27-year-old male motorcyclist was conscious when taken to hospital.

A resident who lives in the vicinity told Shin Min Daily News that the motorcycle skidded several metres and its rider was bleeding profusely from the head.

She also saw the pedestrian, who was wearing a white shirt and black pants, lying motionless on the ground.

She recounted: "There was a lot of blood after the motorcyclist fell onto the ground. The elderly man who was knocked down did not have any visible injuries, nor was he bleeding much, so it's unexpected that he was so seriously injured."

Police investigations are ongoing.
